Tofu substitution

    With other health issues I have, I cannot have tofu. What is a good kidney friendly substitution in recipes that call for tofu?

    Thanks for your comment. It really depends on what dish you are looking to make.

    For generic recipes good substitutions for tofu can include; chickpeas (lower in potassium and phosphorus), lentils, white beans (or any other beans), green peas, tempeh (if you are able to eat soy products)

    For Example;
    -Asian style recipes; you can switch out tofu for peas, chickpeas or snow pea pods in a stir fry recipe.
    -For a marinated tofu recipe you could consider making a black bean and oat burger patty.
