Easy Low Sodium Marinara SauceBy cukebookThere's nothing like a good, hot marinara sauce over pasta. It was a staple in my household growing up. Almost every Sunday night you could expect a dish of pasta with my moms homemade tomato sauce. She made the same sauce every weekend for years and years. After going to school for culinary arts and finding out that tomato sauce was considered a "mother sauce" in cooking, I fell even more in love with marinara sauce, and sauces in general. This low sodium marinara sauce recipe is easy to make, and tastes great. I normally double, or even triple the recipe and freeze the rest for a day I don't feel like cooking dinner. Simply pull the sauce out of the freezer in the morning, and heat it up in a sauce pot at night. I do like to add some salt to this recipe because it helps with the acidity of the tomatoes a bit, but you're more than welcome to make this a salt-free tomato sauce by removing the salt all together. Let me know it tastes in the comments below!Low Sodium Pesto & Goat Cheese ChickenBy sodiumoptionalWho doesn't like goat cheese and pesto? I like to think that if I'm going to eat fried food, I would rather fry my own in nice clean oil. When at a restaurant you have no idea how gross their frying oil is, or what was fried in it before. Plus chefs are almost programmed to salt everything that comes out of a fryolator. I know this because I use to be a chef for many years before my kidney disease took its final toll on me. This low sodium chicken tender recipe involves deep frying, so make sure to have a plate with paper towels on it off to the side to drain the chicken once it comes out of the hot oil. The frozen flat breads at the grocery store are great and very convenient, but they are almost always very high in sodium. One flatbread could be as high as 1000mg of sodium! I mean, I could personally eat one entire flatbread pizza...the small ones of course. So I decided to come up with a low sodium flatbread recipe so I could freeze my own flatbreads and make pizzas conveniently without getting slammed with tons of sodium. These low sodium flatbreads are super easy to make, and you can freeze them and use them for months. This recipe makes 8 flatbreads, and when individually wrapped and frozen, will last up to 6 months.Low Sodium Roasted Garlic Mashed PotatoesBy Anthony ValentineAnyone can boil potatoes and mash them up, but making mashed potatoes that are creamy and delicious can be difficult.
