Easy Low Sodium Marinara SauceBy cukebookThere's nothing like a good, hot marinara sauce over pasta. It was a staple in my household growing up. Almost every Sunday night you could expect a dish of pasta with my moms homemade tomato sauce. She made the same sauce every weekend for years and years. After going to school for culinary arts and finding out that tomato sauce was considered a "mother sauce" in cooking, I fell even more in love with marinara sauce, and sauces in general. This low sodium marinara sauce recipe is easy to make, and tastes great. I normally double, or even triple the recipe and freeze the rest for a day I don't feel like cooking dinner. Simply pull the sauce out of the freezer in the morning, and heat it up in a sauce pot at night. I do like to add some salt to this recipe because it helps with the acidity of the tomatoes a bit, but you're more than welcome to make this a salt-free tomato sauce by removing the salt all together. Let me know it tastes in the comments below!Low Sodium Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Hash Brown SkilletBy cukebookThis simple yet filling breakfast has quickly become a favorite in our home. This low sodium turkey bolognese recipe is one of my favorite recipes, and a challenging one at that. Although this recipe is a bit tough to make, it's totally worth the effort for you and whomever you are cooking it for! Note: This recipe is relatively high in potassium & phosphorus. Which is why I also love this easy to make french onion dip. Most store bought french onion dips are pretty high in sodium in order to preserve them for months on end. This low sodium french onion dip recipe is packed with flavor, and has only 33mg of sodium per 2 tbsp serving. It's a win-win for anyone following a sodium restricted diet like me! The key to this recipe is to really render down the onions so they are beautifully caramelized and packed with flavor. The frozen flat breads at the grocery store are great and very convenient, but they are almost always very high in sodium. One flatbread could be as high as 1000mg of sodium! I mean, I could personally eat one entire flatbread pizza...the small ones of course. So I decided to come up with a low sodium flatbread recipe so I could freeze my own flatbreads and make pizzas conveniently without getting slammed with tons of sodium. These low sodium flatbreads are super easy to make, and you can freeze them and use them for months. This recipe makes 8 flatbreads, and when individually wrapped and frozen, will last up to 6 months.Low Sodium Sweet Potato & Turkey ChiliBy Anthony ValentineThis chili recipe is absolutely mouth watering! Healthy Creamy Garlic & Spinach Alfredo PastaBy Anthony ValentineAbsolutely mouth watering garlic and spinach alfredo recipe. By creating a simple compound roux with our garlic, we are able to create a beautiful, velvety alfredo sauce that is SURE to impress your friends. The best part about this recipe is that it's super easy to pull off and it can be thrown together in a short 30 minutes.
If you're like me and follow a low sodium diet, then you know that a dish like this is normally pretty difficult to pull off. A lot of alfredo recipes use tons of milk or cream, instead we're going to be using a 2:1 ratio of stock to the milk, which will help cut back the sodium, and phosphorus for that matter (for the CKD peeps).
